Maryland Boater Safety Course
The Maryland Boater Safety Course provides an overview of boating safety issues in the following areas: vessel types, legal requirements, navigation rules, getting underway, accidents, water pollution control, and several special topics. Successful completion of this course meets the State of Maryland boater education certification requirements for persons born after July 1, 1972. Safety on the water is a top priority for the Coast Guard Auxiliary and it takes everyone's help to ensure that we all play it safe while on the water.

One class in January, the dates are the 12th, 19th, and 26th 2008, ,from 7:30 - 9:30 pm

Registration: Contact Peggy Barry, fso-pe@flotilla12.org, 410-439-9014

GPS for Mariners

GPS for Mariners is a modern learning experience that focuses on the GPS equipment typically owned by the recreational boater. This course has resulted from an exciting synergy between textbook's publisher, the book's author, and the Auxiliary. The course includes the book and some terrific PowerPoint support materials.

This course involves inviting participants who already own hand-held GPS units to bring them to the class, increasing interactivity of the educational experience and getting students more involved. This class is also effective for those not possessing handheld units who will learn how to use a GPS for practical recreational boating.

One classes in March, on the 19th and 26, 2008, from 7:30 - 9:30 pm.

Cost: $35 per person
